About this piece

Our first piece and still the one we make most. The Salt Flat is thrown from a speckled stoneware body, then dipped so the matte glaze pools thicker where it runs off the belly and stops short of the foot. The clay ring at the base stays raw, so the mug sits with a bit of grip and shows the material it is made from. The handle is pulled by hand and set wide enough for four fingers, which is the whole reason we kept redrawing it. Every mug varies slightly in speckle and glaze break — that is the firing, not a fault.

Materials
Speckled stoneware, food-safe matte glaze, unglazed clay foot
Dimensions
Standard 95 mm high × 82 mm diameter, 300 ml. Long black 110 mm high × 84 mm diameter, 400 ml.
Care
Dishwasher and microwave safe. The raw foot may mark a soft benchtop when wet, so dry the base before setting it down.
